What is Microblading?
Also known as microstroking, feathering or embroidery, it involves using a specialized handheld tool with fine needles to deposit pigment into the skin, creating hair-like strokes that mimic natural eyebrow hairs.
Here’s how it works:
- Consultation: The process typically begins with a consultation where the shape, colour, and overall look of the eyebrows are discussed and planned.
- Preparation: The eyebrow area is cleaned, and a numbing cream is usually applied to minimize discomfort during the procedure.
- Design: The technician draws an outline of the desired eyebrow shape, taking into consideration the client’s facial structure and preferences.
- Microblading: Using the microblading tool, the technician makes small, precise cuts into the skin and deposits pigment into these cuts. The strokes are made to resemble natural eyebrow hairs, creating a fuller, more defined brow.
- Aftercare: After the procedure, there is a healing process during which the brows may appear darker and slightly scabbed. Clients are usually advised to avoid getting the brows wet and to apply a special ointment to promote healing.
The results typically last between one to three years, depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Unlike traditional eyebrow tattooing, microblading provides a more natural and subtle look, which is why it has become so popular.
The result is a very natural look, with fine, crisp individual strokes which give volume and/or definition to the eyebrows. Modern microblading equipment keeps discomfort to a minimum, and of course, we always give the appropriate attention to all the associated health and hygiene issues.
In many cases, two appointments are needed, with the first consultation used to assess skin tone and type before an initial application, and the second used to complete the procedure. A further touch-up may be required some time later in order to maintain the desired sharpness and colour of pigment.
What is Ombre Brow?
Here’s how the process works:
- Consultation: The procedure usually begins with a consultation to determine the desired shape, color, and intensity of the shading.
- Preparation: The eyebrow area is cleaned, and a numbing cream is applied to minimize discomfort during the procedure.
- Design: The technician outlines the desired shape of the eyebrows, considering the client’s facial features and preferences.
- Shading Technique: Using a specialized machine or a manual tool, the technician applies pigment to the eyebrows in a gradient pattern. The pigment is deposited into the skin using tiny, repetitive dots, giving the brows a soft, powdered effect. The front of the brow is usually lighter, with a gradual darkening toward the tail, creating a natural ombré effect.
- Aftercare: Similar to microblading, there’s a healing process where the brows may appear darker initially. Clients are advised to follow specific aftercare instructions to ensure proper healing and colour retention.
The results of eyebrow shading can last from one to three years, depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. This technique is often chosen by those who want a fuller, more defined brow without the individual hair strokes of microblading, offering a softer and more filled-in appearance. Regular touch-ups are recommended to maintain the desired look.
What is Permanent Makeup?
Common Applications of Permanent Makeup:
EYEBROWS:
- Purpose: To fill in sparse or missing eyebrow hair, define the shape, and create a more polished look.
- Techniques: Techniques like microblading (creating hair-like strokes) or shading (a more solid, filled-in look) are commonly used.
EYELINER:
- Purpose: To define the eyes by adding color along the lash line. This can range from a subtle enhancement to a more pronounced eyeliner effect.
- Techniques: The pigment is carefully applied to the upper and/or lower lash lines, sometimes extending slightly beyond to create a more defined look.
LIPS:
- Purpose: To enhance the shape, colour, and fullness of the lips. It can also correct asymmetry or restore colour lost due to aging.
- Techniques: Lip liner (to define the edges) or full lip colour (to tint the entire lip area) are common options.
THE PROCEDURE
- Consultation: The process begins with a consultation to discuss the desired outcome, select the appropriate pigments, and design the shape or style. The practitioner will consider the client’s skin tone, natural features, and personal preferences.
- Preparation: The area to be treated is cleaned, and a topical numbing cream is often applied to minimize discomfort during the procedure.
- Application: Using a specialized tattoo machine or a manual tool, the practitioner deposits pigment into the upper layers of the skin. The procedure requires precision, especially when creating detailed work like hair strokes or eyeliner.
- Aftercare: After the procedure, the area may be slightly swollen or red. Clients are given aftercare instructions, which typically include avoiding sun exposure, keeping the area clean, and applying healing ointments.
BENEFITS
- Long-Lasting Results: Permanent makeup can last several years, reducing the need for daily makeup application.
- Time-Saving: Ideal for those with busy lifestyles, allergies to traditional makeup, or physical limitations that make applying makeup difficult.
- Enhances Natural Features: Provides a subtle enhancement that can look natural and improve facial symmetry.
What are Professional Peels?
These treatments involve the application of a chemical solution to the skin, which causes the outer layers to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The result is typically smoother, more radiant skin with a reduced appearance of imperfections such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven pigmentation.
Chemical peels vary in strength and depth, depending on the type of acid used and its concentration. The main types include:
Superficial Peels:. These are the mildest form of chemical peels, targeting only the outermost layer of skin (epidermis). Theyaare ideal for treating minor skin imperfections such as rough texture, dullness, and fine lines. There is Little to no downtime, with mild redness or peeling.
Medium Peels:. These penetrate deeper into the skin, reaching the middle layers (dermis). They are effective for treating moderate wrinkles, sun damage, and more pronounced hyperpigmentation. They typically require about a week of downtime, with redness, swelling, and peeling.
Deeper peels are very intensive, reaching the deeper layers of the skin, and are usually done under sedation and require close medical supervision. We do not do them.
The Procedure
- Consultation: A thorough consultation is conducted to assess the skin type, concerns, and suitability for a chemical peel. The practitioner may also discuss pre-treatment skincare to prepare the skin.
- Preparation: The skin is cleansed, and in some cases, a pre-peel solution is applied to remove excess oils and ensure even penetration of the peel.
- Application: The chemical solution is carefully applied to the skin, where it begins to work by breaking down the bonds between dead skin cells, allowing them to shed more easily.
- Neutralization: Depending on the type of peel, the solution may be left on the skin for a specific amount of time before being neutralized, or it may self-neutralize over time.
- Post-Treatment Care: After the peel, the skin is usually treated with soothing products, and patients are given detailed aftercare instructions. Sun protection is crucial, as the skin will be more sensitive to UV rays.
Benefits
- Improves Skin Texture and Tone: Helps to smooth rough or uneven skin, resulting in a more refined texture.
- Reduces Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Encourages collagen production, which can help reduce the appearance of aging signs.
- Corrects Pigmentation Issues: Helps to fade dark spots, melasma, and other forms of hyperpigmentation.
Chemical skin peels are an effective option for rejuvenating the skin and addressing various skin concerns. They should always be performed by a qualified professional who can tailor the treatment to the individual’s skin type and needs.
Regrettably, due to a significant increase in client cancellations, I must now request a 50% upfront payment via Slick, our online booking system. Please note that this deposit will be forfeited if cancellations are made within 24 hours of the appointment.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
